Hi!

Eigo ga dajobu desu ka? :-) My Japanese is much worse than my English so
I'll post this in English.

I have been working on an online backgammon database for a couple of years
now and it is starting to become very useful and has received a lot of
praise from those who has tried it.

Backgammon Studio

"A backgammon server that tries to provide an entertaining way to improve
your backgammon skills by providing different types of challenges you can
try your skills on and compete with others for the best score. It will
track your performance (only visible by you) so you can get an idea in
which area of the game where you should focus your efforts at improving. "

A wide variety of challenges are available:
Classic challenge ? Your typical collection of positions with
multiple choice answers.
Endurance challenge ? play a challenge until all positions are
answered correctly.
Perfect streak ? Answer as many problems correctly as you can.
Winning challenge ? Estimate winning chances.
Gammon challenge ? Estimate gammon chances.
Pip count ? calculate the correct pipcount for both sites as fast as
you can.
Equity challenge ? get as low equity loss in a selected challenge.
Gone in 60/30/10 seconds ? Answer a position correctly before time
runs out.
Borderline bonanza! ? Answer as many borderline cube action
positions as possible.
Bar brawl! ? Answer as many cube action from the bar as possible.
Hitman! ? You can hit! Even two! Go for it or go for positional
improvement?
Payback! ? Pay now or later. Always difficult to know when to run.

A large collection of complete matches can be played through in different
ways:
  • Normal play through.
  • Take the seat as one of the players and answer the same positions as
this player and compare your relative PR performance. Can you play better
than Mochy? Now you can find out!
A wide variety of search options to identify positions from matches:
  • Filter on player, error threshold, start/end date, cube/checker
play, specific move number, specific dice throw, position type, correct
    cube action.
  • Filter on many action tags (Hit or not, Make 5 point or not,
    etc.)
  • Filter on many position tags (2p board, 3p board, anchors, pieces
    left, etc.)
Examine many statistics on player performance: Cube handling, Most common
errors, position types where errors are made, PR progress, Equity loss.

Create you private database and upload your own matches to investigate your
own weaknesses so you can avoid them in the future! There is a private
training ground you can fill up with past mistakes in order to avoid them
in the future!

Challenge your friends to a consultation challenge where both players get
the same positions and you can discuss the positions with your opponent to
improve your understanding of the position. You will receive a rating based
on your performance. An entirely skill based rating where no lucky roll of
the dice will decide the outcome!

I think competition is fun and on my backgammon server you compete for the
top highscore in each of the different challenge types:

I hear there are many very strong Japanese backgammon players! Are any of
you able to beat our norwegian hero, Hall? Give it a try! :-)

I will be going to Japan in a few days and join the Japan Open tournament.
Please locate me and ask me any questions about my backgammon server if you
have any!
